I decided to study about young Asian immigrants group and I have focus their population in 2 popular working places: restaurant and nail salon. I will also gather information in other places such as school and community. As looking for some artifact cultures beyond this population, I have found these specific items that carry out their identities: their working uniforms, name tag, notebook. Beside that, I have gain permission from managers from couple locations for interviewing, and my presences at their place while I’m gathering the information. As far as I have recognize, most nail technician don't go by their name on their name tag. They always have English name. When asked, their answer is so simple: "So that it's easier for customers to remember my name." For a moment, I have thought, they sacrifice their original identities just to assimilate in American life. In other working place, restaurant, I have found how important for a server to memorize the menu including all the ingredient in specific disk. These two observations I did makes me even more interesting to learn about this culture.
